Perseus 1 surprises the GRAEAE, who had but one eye and one tooth, which they passed to each other in turn. They would not tell him what he needed to know, but Perseus 1, by taking their tooth and eye, compelled them to show him the way to the NYMPHS.

The NYMPHS give Perseus 1 a wallet, winged sandals, and the helmet of Hades, which makes invisible he who wears it.

Perseus 1, having beheaded Medusa 1, looks at her face not directly but on a brazen shield in order not to be turned into stone.

Perseus 1 rescues Andromeda, who had been exposed as a prey to the sea-monster sent by Poseidon, as a remedy to the calamities that Ethiopia was suffering.

While Perseus 1 was celebrating his marriage, Phineus 1, who had been previously betrothed to Andromeda, appeared accusing the guest of stealing his bride. In the course of the ensuing fight, Perseus 1 showed his rival and other ETHIOPIAN CHIEFS the head of Medusa 1, turning them into stone.
